Services - Gully Emptying

Road Gullies

Road gullies allow water to drain away from roads and pavements. A gully consists of a concrete pot positioned under the road surface with an iron grate visible from the road. The water collects in the concrete pot and is then channelled through a series of pipes before connecting into the main sewer network. The pot collects any debris, leaves, litter, soil and rubbish that is washed off the road ensuring that the collecting pipe doesn’t become blocked.

Gully Emptying

To clean a gully the operators clear the grid of debris and raises the lid. Any debris or excess water is vacuumed up by the gully suction boom. Clean water is then flushed through the gully to ensure the drainage system is working correctly. If the gully is not running smoothly, high pressure jetting is used to try to clear any blockages.

Gully Cleaning

If the gully is not running smoothly, high pressure jetting is used to try to clear any blockages. A camera unit can also be used to view any possible blockages, cracked pipes or for further investigation of drainage problems. Further problems are usually solved by high volume jetting or root cutting.

The Gully Service can also retrieve lost items such as keys from gullies and will endeavour to provide a timely response to all such enquiries.
